Clomid (Clomiphene) - Reviews
I conceived my 1st baby unexpectedly when I was 17 but once it came time to try for baby number 2 we had trouble. I had developed PCOS and didn't have a menstrual cycle for 8 months straight (due to anovulation) so my doctor prescribed Clomid after 18m of no luck. I took 50mg on cycle days 2-6 and conceived my baby boy on cycle day 14(April 2009). He was born at 37 weeks 110% healthy. When we wanted to try for #3 my wonderful OBGYN prescribed Clomid again right away, allowing us to avoid the unnecessary stress of trying with no luck again. So we used 50mg on cycle days 1-5 this time and I conceived my beautiful baby girl on cycle day 21, first cycle again (Sept 2010). She was born at 39 weeks, 10 lbs of perfectness. Clomid was my miracle.
One thing that Clomid does is aids in maturing the eggs.. many women ovulate, but the eggs that are released aren't reaching "full maturity" beforehand. An egg that isn't "mature" usually cannot be fertilized...this was part of my case (Clomid certainly does other things to aid in getting pregnant and ovulating, etc). I took Clomid for YEARS. Conceived my daughter on Clomid the first month (she's now 13 yrs old), but also took it for years after that with no luck....eventually got pg with no outside help.
Increased my estrogen levels, started ovulating again, and after about 6 months my ovulation formed a predictable pattern with an ending menstrual period. It was an easy small sized capsule to swallow and did not break down in water. Once ovulation was kicked off and preganancy still did not occur, it allowed my obstetrician to focus on other possible problems.
Clomid is a fertility drug which is used to increase the chances of the pregnancy. It helps women ovulate (produce a mature egg) properly during their monthly cycle. As opposed to the other similar treatments, clomiphene alone does not have
Clomifene works by stimulating the release of eggs from the ovary. Clomifene is used to treat some types of infertility in women who are not ovulating properly. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Clomid may cause blurred vision or other visual side effects during or shortly after therapy. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop any visual side effects and use caution when performing hazardous activities, especially under conditions of variable lighting.
Clomid over the counter Tablets (Clomifene citrate BP) is indicated for the treatment of ovulatory failure in women desiring pregnancy. Clomid 50mg Tablets is indicated only for patients in whom ovulatory dysfunction is demonstrated. Other causes of infertility must be excluded or adequately treated before giving Clomid Tablets Clomid (clomiphene citrate tablets USP) - the very name is enough to strike fear in the hearts of husbands of infertile women everywhere. After a few days of it, my husband will wistfully ask, "Why aren't there hormone-free safe houses for men to go to?" Often the first line of defense when it comes to infertility medication, it is often among the worst offenders when it comes to emotional side effects. On the other hand, Clomid is a good fertility medication and doesn't require injections, which is always a plus. What is it? Clomiphene citrate is frequently referred to by its brand names, Clomid and Serophene. Clomiphene otc is used to induce ovulation, to correct irregular ovulation, to help increase egg production and to correct luteal phase deficiency. It is one of the selective estrogen receptor modulators that acts as an anti-estrogen and tricks the pituitary gland into producing more FSH and LH, which, in turn, stimulates the ovary into producing more eggs and follicles. Generally, Clomid follicles are larger than injectible follicles right before ovulation.
Before taking clomifene
Before taking clomifene make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:
Studies have also shown that ovulation occurs at a lower dose in obese women who are given metformin. Ovulation also occurs at a lower dose in women given dexamethasone (most women in those studies were not obese). Finally, a very old study showed that the dose of Clomid required to ovulate depended directly on body weight.
